Can't run Command Prompt as Administrator Windows 8
In many situations Windows 8 users need to run Command Prompt as administrator. For example, they need to run “sfc /scannow” command with administrator authority to fix the failed patch for Internet Explorer. Nevertheless, users might receive such the error message that you must be an administrator running a console session in order to use the sfc utility, even though they have selected Run as Administrator. Well then, what is Command Prompt and how can we fix this error?
A Brief Introduction to Command Prompt
A command prompt is an entry point for typing computer commands in the Command Prompt window, and most of those commands are used to automate tasks via scripts and batch files, perform advanced administrative functions, and troubleshoot and fix some kinds of Windows issues.
How to Fix: Can't Run Command Prompt as Administrator
As we know, there is no Start menu in Windows 8. In order to facilitate operations, a part of users employ IOBit Start Menu or some other alternative start menu, but this may affect the Run as administrator dialogue. To fix this issue, you may need to enable the ‘bottom-left hot corner' feature (take IOBit Start Menu 8 for example): click the Start Menu, choose the Settings icon, go to the Modern UI menu on the left, and ensure either "Disable bottom-left hot corner" or "Disable sidebar" does NOT have a check mark. After that, you can easily run Command Prompt as administrator like this: type command prompt in the Search box, right click the Command Prompt program, choose Run as administrator, and click Yes to confirm the operation.
Once Command Prompt is opened, you can perform multiple operations or functions. For example, you can type diskpart in Command Prompt to run this program, and then do a list of partitioning operations, including delete partition, format partition, extend partition, shrink partition, clean disk, convert disk to MBR or GPT, and so on.
But disappointingly, most partitioning operations required by diskpart will result in data loss. If users want to complete lossless partitioning, free partition manager MiniTool Partition Wizard might be a good choice.
